OSCE preparation is practice, not more study. By the time a nurse reaches this stage they have already passed a written exam and worked clinically for years, often for a decade or more. What fails people in the OSCE is rarely knowledge. It is working under a timer, in unfamiliar equipment, against a marking framework they have never seen.

Both options are face to face at our Revesby centre and complete in a single day. Most preparation programs in Australia run for two to four weeks and cost between $2,000 and $2,900. This is a different product: short, targeted, and built for nurses who need practice rather than a syllabus.

What is the OSCE?
The Objective Structured Clinical Examination is the practical stage of the Outcome-Based Assessment pathway for internationally qualified nurses and midwives. It is run by AHPRA and the NMBA at their appointed examination venue in South Australia.
You move through a series of short stations. Each one is a clinical scenario: some use a simulated patient, some a manikin, some are documentation only. You read the scenario for a couple of minutes, then perform. Every station is marked against the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, and the setting is built to mirror an Australian clinical environment, down to the documentation and the equipment.
The examination fee is set by AHPRA and is separate from any preparation course. Confirm the current amount on your IQNM dashboard before you budget.

Where the OSCE sits in the OBA pathway
The Outcome-Based Assessment is the registration route for internationally qualified nurses, introduced by the NMBA in March 2020 in place of the earlier bridging programs. It runs in stages.

Self-check and referral
You submit a self-check through the AHPRA portal, which determines your stream and whether you are referred to the OBA.

NCLEX-RN
The written multiple choice examination, delivered through Pearson VUE test centres. This is the stage our NCLEX-RN preparation course covers.

OSCE

Apply for registration
Passing both stages makes you eligible to apply to AHPRA for registration.
Every part of that process is run by the regulators and their appointed providers. Training companies, including ANATE, sit outside it entirely.

The emphasis is on sequence and timing rather than content. Most participants already know how to perform these procedures. What the session builds is doing them in the expected order, within the time, while talking to the patient and without breaking technique.

A good share of the nurses who book are preparing for a second attempt, and this is the situation the one-on-one session exists for. An unsuccessful OSCE attempt does not define your clinical ability or your future as a nurse.
You are not starting from zero. You have already passed a written examination and you have clinical experience behind you. What usually went wrong is narrower than it feels: one or two stations, a timing problem, or communication under pressure rather than clinical skill.

Confirm your date
We confirm date, time and fee, along with anything you need to bring. One-on-one sessions are scheduled around your examination date where possible, and small group dates are set as bookings come in.

Revesby station and parking are both about a one minute walk from the centre.

Travelling to the session
Training is at Unit 18/4-10 Selems Parade, Revesby NSW 2212, in south west Sydney. Nurses book from across Australia and from overseas, and because the session completes in one day a short trip is practical.

Why a single day works
Most OSCE preparation in Australia is sold as a two to four week program costing $2,000 to $2,900. That format suits a nurse who wants structure across the whole syllabus, and it is a reasonable product.

It is not what most nurses at this stage actually need. By the time you reach the OSCE you have passed a written examination and practised clinically for years. The gap is narrow: timing, sequence, unfamiliar equipment, and performing while being watched. A focused day spent repeating the stations that worry you closes that gap more efficiently than four weeks of revision, and at a fraction of the cost.

The examination fee is set by AHPRA and is separate from any preparation course. It is commonly cited at around AUD $4,000, and you should confirm the current figure on your AHPRA IQNM dashboard. There is also an assessment fee earlier in the pathway.
At the examination venue appointed by AHPRA and the NMBA, which is in South Australia. Your training with ANATE happens in Sydney, your examination happens separately at the official venue.
Re-sitting is handled through AHPRA, and you pay the examination fee again. Many nurses book targeted preparation before a second attempt, which is what the one-on-one session is designed for.
