This course provides participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise and respond to mental health challenges commonly experienced by young people. Through structured, evidence-based training, participants learn to identify early warning signs, offer appropriate support, and guide young individuals toward professional help where necessary.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed for individuals who regularly interact with adolescents — including teachers, coaches, youth workers, support staff, and parents — and equips them with practical tools to respond effectively and compassionately in both everyday and crisis situations.
This course is endorsed by Suicide Prevention Australia and is recognised nationally for its contribution to safety, quality, and effectiveness in mental health crisis prevention. It aligns with national suicide prevention priorities and is backed by ongoing research and evidence.
Upon completion of the course, adults are certified as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders). This certification equips individuals with the essential knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to provide effective support and mental health information during crucial times.
To achieve accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider), participants are required to complete a short assessment at the conclusion of the course.
